Rockefeller Center for ¡Qué rico! Celebrating Latino Cuisine & Culture.
On Monday, June 6, 2016, an extraordinary selection of chefs will gather at Rockefeller Center for ¡Qué rico! Celebrating Latino Cuisine & Culture: The 31st Annual Chefs’ Tribute to Citymeals on Wheels. The most brilliant minds in today’s culinary scene will conceive and present Latin-inspired dishes for more than 1,000 guests. This year’s participating chefs include Robert Aikens, Franco Barrio, Daniel Boulud, Adrianne Calvo, Nina Compton, Scott Conant, Larriy Forgione, Marc Forgione, Markus Glocker, Mario Hernandez, Susie Jimenez, Julian Medina, Marco Moreira, Alfred Portale, Wolfgang Puck, Stephen Pyles, Roberto Santibañez, Jimmy Schmidt, Ivy Stark, Alex Stupak and Bill Telepan among others. Our event co-chairs are Beverly and Dan Bartfeld, Ninah and Michael Lynne, Laura and John Pomerantz, Randi and Dennis Riese, and Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch.
This annual event began in 1985 when renowned chefs Larry Forgione and Jonathan Waxman planned a benefit to mark the eighty-second birthday of Citymeals Co-Founder James Beard. The party was to feature chefs from across the country, including many of Beard’s protégés. Sadly, he passed away just months before the event. Instead of canceling, Co-Founder Gael Greene and the participating chefs decided to pay tribute to Beard. Since then, we have honored James Beard – and the food world’s commitment to Citymeals – at our Chefs’ Tribute event each year.
