Chef Adrianne Calvo finds roads where none exist and starts building. A passionate Latina with a flare for thinking outside the box, she has earned countless awards and acknowledgements along with praise from the media, fans, and peers. I sat down with Chef Adrianne recently to talk about how her passion for food first began, her experience as the youngest person to work at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel’s kitchen, and how she plans to expand the Chef Adrianne brand through the rest of 2013.
Chef Adrianne Calvo hosts a dining in the dark event once a month at her restaurant, Chef Adrianne’s Vineyard Restaurant and Wine Bar, in Miami. When we got to the restaurant – located in a strip mall next to a Goodyear far from the typical trendy restaurants popping up in Miami – the first things we saw were feathered boas, satin gloves, too many candles to count, and servers dressed in cabaret outfits. It was Moulin Rouge meets Vampire Diaries meets Halloween.
Chef Adrianne’s Vineyard Restaurant & Wine Bar is a pleasant surprise. Tucked away in a shopping center in the heart of the Hammocks neighborhood of Miami, one would not expect it to be as nice as it is given its location. With a Martino Tire steps away and new shopping centers minutes away, one could easily miss this restaurant. The restaurant, however, proves to be a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the outside world.
